چکیده

Synopsis High rank correlations existed between estimated breeding value for birth weight direct, weaning weight direct, postweaning gain direct, birth weight maternal, and weaning weight maternal from a genomicpolygenic model that used all phenotypic, pedigree, and genotypic information and a polygenic model. Variance components and genetic parameters from these two models were similar for all traits. Incomplete pedigree or lack of it resulted in lower rank correlations and poor estimates of genetic parameters particularly for maternal traits. Thus, to maximize the benefits of genotyping, commercial producers would need to keep complete pedigree records as well as individual animal phenotypes.

Genomic - polygenic and polygenic predictions for nine ultrasound and carcass traits in 1 Angus - Brahman multibreed cattle using three sets of genotypes

9 The objectives of this study were to estimate variance components, genetic 10 parameters, EBV, accuracies, and rankings for nine ultrasound and carcass traits in a 11 multibreed Angus-Brahman population using three genomic-polygenic models and one 12 polygenic model (PM). The genomic-polygenic models used the complete GeneSeek 13 GPF250k SNP set (GPM), top 5% SNP (GPMR1), and 5% SNP evenly sp...

Covariance components and prediction for additive and nonadditive preweaning growth genetic effects in an Angus-Brahman multibreed herd.

Estimates of covariances and sire expected progeny differences of additive and nonadditive direct and maternal genetic effects for birth and weaning weights were obtained using records from 1,581 straightbred and crossbred calves from the Angus-Brahman multibreed herd at the University of Florida. Covariances were estimated by Restricted Maximum Likelihood, using a Generalized Expectation-Maxim...

Composite Selection Signals for Complex Traits Exemplified Through Bovine Stature Using Multibreed Cohorts of European and African Bos taurus

Understanding the evolution and molecular architecture of complex traits is important in domestic animals. Due to phenotypic selection, genomic regions develop unique patterns of genetic diversity called signatures of selection, which are challenging to detect, especially for complex polygenic traits. In this study, we applied the composite selection signals (CSS) method to investigate evidence...
